Sleeves & Locking Devices,Withdrawal Sleeves
Because shaft collars wrap around a shaft to distribute clamping forces, the collars give a snug fit without damaging the shaft. Two-piece shaft collars add versatility by matching the diameter of the shaft with the correct fit and alignment. Thin-walled and thick wear sleeves cover a worn or marred area of a shaft. By allowing the use of the same seals for an application, the use of wear sleeves eliminates the need to purchase a new shaft or to purchase a special seal that adjusts to the damaged shaft. Custom-made thick wear sleeves work on larger shafts for severe applications such as rolling, metal, and chemical plants. Wear sleeves are available for numerous standard inch and metric shaft sizes. Locking devices prevent a bearing from rotating around the shaft. The sleeve is pressed into the bore of the bearing inner ring, which abuts a shaft shoulder or similar fixed component. The sleeve is located on the shaft by a nut or an end plate. KM or HM lock nuts (→ Lock nuts) with appropriate locking devices are suitable. Lock nuts are not supplied with the sleeve and must be ordered separately.
